More and more young adult book seem to be follow a pattern of children losing there parent and finding there new lives end up in a place with them falling in love. Yet the person they love they cant be with. In the case of the lake Layla find herself in a town with her aunt and uncle she’s never really seen and starts a relationship with Will Meyer who’s dad practically owns the town and has no problem in using force to get his way. I found this book lacking in emotional areas. That Layla really didn’t react to her granddad or parents the way you would expect a teenager to.
